We gather every Sunday morning for worship at 8:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m., with Sunday School for all ages at 9:15 a.m. between services.
What to Know About St. Peter's
What type of church is St. Peter's?
We are an Episcopal church within the Diocese of Tennessee. We’re a broadly intergenerational church with many of our members coming from other faith traditions. We have an active children’s ministry, many of whom serve as lectors in our Sunday worship. Our parish enthusiastically participates in churchwide events and ministries, sharing the love of Christ in caring for those in our parish and in our larger community.
When are your Sunday services?
Our Sunday schedule looks like this:
8:00 a.m. – Holy Eucharist (Rite I Traditional Language)
9:15 a.m. – Sunday School classes for children, youth, and adults
10:15 a.m. – Holy Eucharist (Rite II Contemporary Language). This is a child friendly family service with hymns, a children’s sermon and an adult sermon.
This service is live-streamed on the St. Peter’s YouTube and Facebook pages. The 10:15am service is also broadcast on WKRM 103.7 FM.
Are small children welcome to attend the services?
Children are absolutely welcome to attend either the 8:00 a.m. or 10:15 a.m. services! The 10:15 a.m. service is traditionally when families with children attend, and you’ll also see many children participate as a torchbearer, cross bearer, or reader. If you’d like to take your child (age five and younger) to the nursery, a greeter will be happy to direct you.
Who can take communion in the Episcopal church?
All baptized Christians may take communion, also known as the Eucharist, in the Episcopal church. If you would rather receive a blessing, come forward along with everyone else and cross your arms over your chest instead of receiving the wafer and wine.
What is it like to participate in a Sunday service?
The Sunday services begin with quiet reverence and open with hymns and readings from the Book of Common Prayer (the red book in your pew). We follow with a sermon, more readings, the offertory, the service of Holy Eucharist, then end the service with a final blessing and a processional hymn.
Throughout the service, you may see others in the congregation make the sign of the cross. This is a personal decision and is not a requirement.

How do I follow along in the service?
We provide an Order of Worship, or bulletin, to guide everyone through the service. It includes the hymns, readings and everything else you need to follow along. If you’re watching a service from home, the Orders of Worship are linked on our homepage.
What should I wear on Sundays?
Most people wear what would be considered Sunday best or business casual.
Where am I allowed to park?
Click this link for information on parking options around our church. We have handicapped spots available in the small lot on Walker Street, and more spaces on Frierson Street in between the church and the Polk Home.
Nursery
Children age five years and younger may go to the nursery during the Sunday School hour and during the service, if necessary. The nursery is located in the Parish Hall and is lovingly staffed by our capable and certified providers.
Sunday School
Sunday School at 9:15 a.m. is available for all youth from pre-K to 12th grade divided into several classrooms. We will be happy to get your child settled in class and make sure you know where to pick them up after class is over.
Adult Café Class
Adults of all ages are invited to our Café Class on Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. in the Lounge.
The Café Class brings together newcomers and long-term members in a space where they can do Bible study and hear from speakers on a number of topics.
