Front Desk Office Assistant (Part-Time)
Postion Description
The Front Desk Office Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day management of the church office.
General Responsibilities
- Provide general secretarial and administrative support, including, but not limited to, answering phones, responding to messages and emails, greeting guests, sorting mail, and filing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook), the Realm database application (training provided), internet searches, and desktop publishing
- Facility with basic office hardware, including PC, telephone, and copy/scanning machines
- Ability to communicate discreetly and diplomatically with those within and beyond St. Peter’s congregation, especially those who call or visit without appointments
- Ability to work as a team with other staff members, vestry and key ministry leaders
- Maintain calendars (Google, desk and wall) of appointments, meetings, and special events involving St. Peter’s premises and coordinating their needs with the Sexton
- Maintain records of Sunday attendance, pastoral care visits, prospective and first-time worshipers, letters of transfer, membership database, ministry rosters, prayer lists, and flower/candle dedications
- Update Parish Books as needed: Communicants, Baptisms, Confirmations, Weddings, Burials
- Print weekly Sunday worship bulletin, children’s bulletins and announcements for Rector
- Operate office equipment
- Assist with the posting of announcements etc on the office hallway bulletin boards and plexiglass stands elsewhere in the church. Update and straighten hallway literature table
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Rector or requested by the Director of Administration
Terms of Employment
- This is a shared position. Our current employee will work 2 days a week.
- Hours: 9am – 3pm with an unpaid lunch break from 12 – 12:30pm, 3 days per week
- Timesheet documenting hours worked must be submitted to the Director of Administration by the 11th and 26th of the month
- Compensation/Benefits
- The Employer will provide compensation of $15.00 per hour
Additional Provisions:
- In keeping with church and diocesan policies, the Employee shall be required to clear a background check, complete the required Safe Church training curriculum, and sign a confidentiality agreement.
- Upon hiring the employee will receive and review and employee handbook prior to the first day of paid employment.
